Jayapura, MAJALAH SELANGKAH -- Senin, 13 April 2015 lalu, majalahselangkah.com memberitakan, Gerakan Pan African Consciousness Renaissance (PACOR) dan Black Revolutionaries Movement (BRM) akan menggelar demonstrasi damai pada tanggal 21 April 2015 di depan Kedutaan Indonesia (KBRI) Pulau Victoria, Lagos, Nigeria.

Rencana aksi "Pembebasan Papua Barat" itu benar-benar dilakukan untuk pertama kalinya di Nigeria (baca: PACOR dan BRM di Nigeria Akan Demo di KBRI, Dukung West Papua Merdeka).

Demonstrasi ini mengikuti gelombang dukungan untuk Papua Barat dari Afrika Selatan. PACOR adalah organisasi yang terhubung dengan Gerakan Black Revolusioner yang mengajak semua orang untuk bergabung dalam solidaritas melawan penindasan yang tidak manusiawi eksploitasi, kolonisasi terhadap orang kulit hitam di seluruh dunia.

"Desakan untuk melakukan aksi solidaritas tertanam dengan kuat. Kami yakin bahwa penindasan dan eksploitasi terhadap bangsa kulit hitam di seluruh dunia bukan saja absurd tapi berbahaya untuk netralitas. Hanya ada dua pilihan, berjuang untuk mendapatkan kebebasan itu atau menjadi bagian dari penindasan di muka bumi ini," tulis Pan-African Consciousness Renaissance (PACOR).

Dikutip RADIO NEW ZEALAND, seorang pengunjuk rasa pada mengatakan, "Seperti orang-orang di Papua Barat. Bagi kami sebagai pan-Afrika, ini adalah perjuangan global, seperti yang kita dilancarkan terhadap rezim apartheid di Afrika Selatan, seperti yang kita dilancarkan perjuangan melawan rasisme di Amerika melawan Afrika Amerika..."

Dear Editor – My good people of Solomon Islands, I write to appeal to you all to render your support for our Melanesian brothers and sisters of West Papua by calling on our Prime Minister and his government to cast their vote in support of their application to be a member of Melanesian Spearhead Group come this June.

West Papua is the western half of the Island of Papua New Guinea, however is under the regime of Indonesia under a UN hosted rigged referendum.

Ever since our Melanesia brothers and sisters continue to live under repression and suffer under the oppressive hands of Indonesian militaries.

For years the people of West Papua have tried to fight for their independence, only to be met by torture, murder, rape and genocide.

No foreign media is allowed to enter West Papua to share with the world these horrific happening inflicted on the populace of West Papua.

United States of America and Australiaare turning blind eyes and deaf ears to the plight of our Melanesian people, because they have a vested interest by operating mining on the rich resourced West Papua.

Some of us are privileged to meet some of the leaders of West Papua liberation movements who were here to seek our government’s support behind their application to be a member of MSG.

Their immediate hope of becoming a member of MSG depends very much on our Prime Minister and his Foreign affairs minister’s vote this June.

 Joining MSG will greatly give advantage to our brothers and sisters on their fight to be recognised and heard by the outside community.

As we all know, Indonesia will not allow this to happen, as a result they too iare seeking our government’s vote at MSG to recognize them instead of West Papua.

As a Melanesian, and not Indonesian, I wish to rally your support to call on our Melanesia government to vote for the Melanesian nation of West Papua, and not Indonesia.

Stop human rights abuse. Stop Genocide. Vote West Papua.

Perjuangan Papua Barat untuk merdeka dari Indonesia adalah salah satu gereja telah lama mendukung.

Dan acara ini terbaru dukungan datang dalam minggu yang sama bahwa Presiden Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono diselenggarakan oleh Kepulauan Pasifik Development Forum di Fiji.

Pita merah dan hitam didistribusikan oleh Konferensi Pasifik Gereja dan Jaringan Pasifik Globalisasi.

"Gereja Methodist di Fiji adalah anggota berkomitmen dari kedua Konferensi Pasifik Gereja dan Fiji Council of Churches," kata juru bicara gereja Pendeta James Bhagwan.

"Dengan demikian kami mendukung panggilan untuk akhir pelanggaran HAM di Tanah Papua, untuk, pemberdayaan ekonomi dan sosial politik mereka dan untuk menentukan nasib sendiri.

"Kami berdiri dalam solidaritas dengan saudara-saudara kita, saudara perempuan dan anak-anak dari Tanah Papua.

"Kami telah menerima seruan mereka dan kami akan echo dan berbicara kebenaran ini berkuasa."

Dia juga mengatakan bahwa mereka mendukung kerja PCC pada masalah Papua Barat dan memandang ke depan untuk bekerja dalam kemitraan dengan mereka untuk mengaktifkan penentuan nasib sendiri dalam arti sepenuhnya untuk rakyat Tanah Papua.

The Fijian opposition has slammed Indonesian bribery and interference in the internal affairs of Melanesia and calls for support for the people of West Papua.

The United Front for a Democratic Fiji (UFDF)  has accused the Indonesian government of deliberately bribing and supporting the incumbent Fijian government in the upcoming elections after Indonesian Ambassador, Aidil Chandra Salim, said in a media interview that the Indonesian government was totally behind Commodore Bainimarama’s bid to become Fiji’s elected Prime Minister.

In a radio interview on 28th January, UFDF Spokesman Mick Beddoes, has condemned Indonesia’s bribery of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) by giving half a million dollars “in exchange for betraying an MSG commitment to the West Papua people”.

In a Press Release, the UFDF said “the call for Independence of West Papua is a matter that not only the MSG group should take up and support, but the Pacific Island Forum members including Australia and New Zealand should unite and support the West Papua’s people’s call for independence, just as we all sought our Independence from colonial rule many decades ago.”

The UFDF says that it “will lodge a formal protest against the Indonesian Government interference in Fiji’s domestic politics as well as in the MSG.”

The UFDF says “it sympathizes with the people of West Papua and is confident that after the 2014 elections, the new government elected by the people will develop a supportive and more engaging policy towards the West Papuan people’s quest for Independence.”

In a recent report Fijian businessman and former Politician Kaliopate Tavola admits that Fiji used the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) fact-finding mission to West Papua to discuss trade deals with Indonesia.

Ambassador for the 2014 Trade Pasifika Kaliopate Tavola said while the aim of mission was for the MSG to look at the situation on West Papua, it was also an opportunity for Fiji to seek bilateral agreements.
The visit was mandated by the MSG leaders to assess the application of the West Papua National Coalition for Liberation (WPNCL) to become a member of the MSG.

Coalition head Andy Ayamiseba had said the fact-finding mission fell short of its mandate.
“To me and the West Papuan National Coalition for Liberation (WPNCL), the so-called Melanesian Spearhead Group ministerial delegation visit to Indonesia and West Papua was a conflict of interest for Fiji and the Solomon Islands,” Mr Ayamiseba told Vanuatu Daily Post.

Although Mr Tavola did not have details of the bilateral agreement, he said any bilateral assistance to Fiji would be useful, especially coming from Indonesia, a country that had a lot of potential.
“Fiji was the leader of the delegation that went across and apart from the MSG mandate. The gain for Fiji is obviously the gain through the bilateral agreement that were carried out, as well as what will emanate from the West Papua situation,” he said.

Papua New Guinea takes regional lead in supporting free West Papua campaign

Melanesian support for a free West Papua has always been high. Travel throughout Papua New Guinea and you will often hear people say that West Papua and Papua New Guinea is ‘wanpela graun’ – one land – and that West Papuans on the other side of the border are family and kin.
In the Solomon Islands, Kanaky, Fiji and especially Vanuatu, people will tell you that “Melanesia is not free until West Papua is free”. This was the promise that the late Father Walter Lini, Vanuatu’s first prime minister made.

Ordinary people in this part of the Pacific are painfully aware that the West Papuan people continue to live under the gun. It is the politicians in Melanesia who have been slow to take up the cause.
But that may be changing. Earlier this month, Powes Parkop, Governor of the Papua New Guinea’s National Capital District, nailed his colours firmly to the mast.

In front of a crowd of 3000 people, Governor Parkop insisted that “there is no historical, legal, religious, or moral justification for Indonesia’s occupation of West Papua”. Turning to welcome West Papuan independence leader Benny Wenda, who was in Papua New Guinea as part of a global tour, the governor told Wenda that while he was in Papua New Guinea “no one will arrest you, no one will stop you, and you can feel free to say what you want to say”. These are basic rights denied to West Papuans who continue to be arrested, tortured and killed simply because of the colour of their skin.

Governor Parkop, who is a member of the International Parliamentarians for West Papua, which now has representatives in 56 countries, then went on to formerly launch the free West Papua campaign.
He promised to open an office, fly the Morning Star flag from City Hall and pledged his support for a Melanesian tour of musicians for a free West Papua.

Governor Parkop is no longer a lone voice in Melanesia calling for change.
Last year, Papua New Guinea’s Prime Minister Peter O’Neill broke with tradition and publicly admonished the Indonesian government’s response to ongoing state violence, human rights violations and failure of governance in West Papua.

Moved by 4000 women from the Lutheran Church. O’Neill said he would raise human rights concerns in the troubled territory with the Indonesian government.
Now Governor Parkop wants to accompany the Prime Minister on his visits to Indonesia “to present his idea to Indonesia on how to solve West Papuan conflict once and for all.”
Well known PNG commentator Emmanuel Narakobi remarked on his blog that Parkop’s multi-pronged proposal for how to mobilise public opinion in PNG around West Papua “is perhaps the first time I’ve heard an actual plan on how to tackle this issue (of West Papua)”.

On talk back radio, Governor Parkop accused Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr of not taking the issue of West Papua seriously, of “sweeping it under the carpet.”
In Vanuatu, opposition parties, the Malvatumari National Council of Chiefs and the Anglican bishop of Vanuatu, Rev James Ligo are all urging the current Vanuatu government to change their position on West Papua.

Rev Ligo was at the recent Pacific Council of Churches in Honiara, Solomon Islands, which passed a resolution urging the World Council of Churches to pressure the United Nations to send a monitoring team to Indonesia’s Papua region.

“We know that Vanuatu has taken a side-step on that (the West Papua issue) and we know that our government supported Indonesia’s observer status on the MSG, we know that.
“But again, we also believe that as churches we have the right to advocate and continue to remind our countries and our leaders to be concerned about our West Papuan brothers and sisters who are suffering every day.”
In Kanaky (New Caledonia) and the Solomon Islands, West Papua solidarity groups have been set up. Some local parliamentarians have joined the ranks of International Parliamentarians for West Papua.
In Fiji, church leaders and NGO activists are quietly placing their support behind the cause even while Frank Bainimarama and Fiji’s military government open their arms to closer ties with the Indonesian military. This internationalisation of the West Papua issue is Indonesia’s worst nightmare; it follows the same trajectory as East Timor.

The West Papuans themselves are also organising, not just inside the country where moral outrage against ongoing Indonesian state violence continues to boil, but regionally as well.
Prior to Benny Wenda’s visit to Papua New Guinea, Vanuatu-based representatives from the West Papua National Coalition for Independence formerly applied for observer status at this year’s Melanesian Spearhead Group meeting due to be held in Noumea, New Caledonia in June, home to another long running Melanesian self-determination struggle.

While in Vanuatu Benny Wenda added his support to that move, calling on Papuans from different resistance organisations to back a “shared agenda for freedom”. A decision about whether West Papua will be granted observer status at this year’s MSG meeting will be made soon.

In Australia, Bob Carr may be trying to pour cold water on growing public support for a free West Papua but in Melanesia the tide is moving in the opposite direction.
